Jorge Bravo-Abad

Short bio

I earned my Ph.D. in Physics from the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM) in 2006, under the supervision of Prof. Francisco José García-Vidal and Prof. Luis Martín-Moreno. Following this, from 2007 to 2010, I moved to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), where I did postdoctoral research in the groups of Prof. John D. Joannopoulos and Prof. Marin Soljacic.

In 2010, I joined the Condensed Matter Theory Department at UAM as a Ramón y Cajal Fellow, later becoming faculty member of the same department in 2016. In the academic year 2018-2019, I was appointed Visiting Associate Professor (Fulbright Scholar) at the Physics Department of MIT.

My research group focuses on discovering fundamentally new concepts, theoretical approaches and physical phenomena at the crossroads of condensed matter physics, materials science and machine learning. We are also deeply committed to proposing novel applications based on our fundamental findings.
